Dog Body Language Observation Sheet

This sheet gives owners a calmer way to observe body language before choosing training advice. It focuses on context, distance, triggers, stress signals, what helped, and whether the dog recovered.

What it tracks

  • Trigger, distance, leash or barrier setup, and who was present.
  • Mouth, eyes, head, tail, posture, movement, freezing, avoidance, or escalation.
  • Whether increasing distance, stopping contact, or moving to a quiet place helped.
Safety boundary: Do not punish warning signals. If behavior changes suddenly, bites have occurred, or signals escalate quickly, involve a veterinarian or qualified behavior professional.
