Cytopoint (Lokivetmab) for Dogs: Itch Relief & Side Effects
Clinical Classification & Indications
Drug Class: Caninized Monoclonal Antibody (mAb)
Approved Uses: Treatment of dogs against atopic and allergic dermatitis, targeting the cycle of chronic canine pruritus for 4 to 8 weeks per subcutaneous injection.

A targeted caninized biological monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to and neutralizes circulating Interleukin-31 (IL-31), preventing it from binding to peripheral nerve receptors and interrupting itch signal transmission.

Adverse Reactions & Side Effect Profile
Common / Expected Side Effects
Lethargy (most common in first 24-48 hours), transient injection site soreness, mild gastrointestinal upset (vomiting or diarrhea).
Emergency Red Flag Reactions
Acute hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis: facial swelling (angioedema), hives (urticaria), respiratory distress, pale gums, collapse within minutes to hours post-injection.
